Rock/Creek Race Team Running Strong in Early Season February and March Races

P8010032As promised, the Rock/Creek Race Team has been the leader of the pack, or stayed on the heels of first place, to rank themselves as top finishers in some of the most rigourous trail races this region has to offer. These men and women have battled the evils of winter weather, and basked in the joys of sunshine and results on the podium over the span of February and March.
Please join me as I carry you through an entourage of Trail Running and Road Running Success from the past two months.

004Race Team member, Dan Miller, met up with his brother to continue what they started last month at the Twin Cities Snowshoe Shuffle [Read the Twin City Race Recap- HERE]. This time Dan traveled to Syracuse, NY and competed in the USSA Nationals- PowerSox US National Snowshoe Championship. “The podium was a distant memory, but I realized the joy in suffering that is snowshoe racing…” accounted Dan in his race report. Rock/Creek is proud to have such a diverse group of interests on our Race team, and snowshoe racing is just one of many unique and challenging interests. [Read Dan’s full race report- HERE]
Rock/Creek Race Team Member John Brower finishes 24th place out of 217 registered participants in this year’s Rocky Raccoon 100 mi & 50Mi Endurance Trail Run in Huntsville State Park- Huntsville, TX on February 6, 2010. Below is John’s race day recap on the gear and mental aspects he endured to achieve his finishing time of 19:12:35. [Read John’s Full Race Report- HERE]
One of our new members for 2010, Robin Meagher, has competed in 2 races over the past 2 months and accomplished podium spots in both races. She placed 1st Female and 19th overall out of 258 runners at the Red Top Rumble in Cartersville, GA with a time of 1:25:49. Robin then raced in the Xterra Thrills in the Hills Marathon in Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, GA on February 27 and finished 3rd Female and 11th Overall with a time of 3:52:16. Nick Selbo, a new member for the 2010 Race Team ran the Frozen 5k Run for Haiti on February 6, 2010 and then ran another 5k for the 11th Annual Gateway Bank & Trust CIS Run. [ To Read Nick’s experience in both races, Read his full article- HERE ]
R/C Race Team Members Dreama Campbell and Sal Coll compete in Land Between the LakesRace Member, Sal Coll, fought an injury through two ultras, the Black Warrior 50k & Land Between The Lakes (LBL) but finished both races, and gathered experience for his personal pacing. It proved valuable as he finished 17th in the LBL 60k with a time of 6:45:43. Fellow Race Team Member, Dreama Campbell, ran the LBL 60k and placed 5th Female Overall with a time of 7:01. Another Race Team Member who competed in the Black Warrior 50k, Johnny Pryor, placed in the top 10 with a time of 5:04. [Read Johnny’s Blog post about his race]. Shortly after the Black warrior 50, Johnny jumped on a plane and competed in CA in the Malibu Creek 50k for a strong finish in 16th place at 5:37:31.
Rock/Creek Race Team Member, Owen Bradley, competes close to home at the Mercedes Marathon and places 8th overall with a time of 2:24:51. Unfortunately, due to a the pavement running, Owen suffered extreme IT-Band soreness which led to his drop out at mile 12 at the Black Warrior 50k. [Read Owen’s Full race Report- HERE]
