The Yakima Raptor Upright Bike Mount is a triangulated arm that grips your downtube firmly in its talon, but it doesn't scratch your paint. The Raptor is safe on your bike because the padded locking jaws treat your bike far more gently than its aggressive name implies. The Raptor is compatible with factory crossbars when you add Mighty Mounts (Sold separately), and also fits round and square crossbars equally as well.

Comments about Yakima Racks Raptor Upright Bike Mount:

I like that you can keep your bike assembled on top of your car. I kinda get tired of removing the wheel for other fork mount styles. It is harder to install your bike on this mount in my opinion. Hold the bike with one hand and turn the wheel with the other. As long as you are on flat ground it's not a big deal. Not a great choice if you want to avoid your cables being gripped though.

Comments about Yakima Racks Raptor Upright Bike Mount:

I use this bike rack on the top of a folding camper so I'm not sure how it would work on a vehicle. The front tire tray is a little too wide for thin tires and causes a slight wiggle of the front wheel.

Comments about Yakima Racks Raptor Upright Bike Mount:

Got these so I can take kids on bike rides. But certainly sturdy enough with a bike loaded to be useful for daily use. The only down side is that the bike clamping bar is "loose" on the rack when no bike is installed. Very minor issue.
Otherwise, it takes 85 mph in stride, and we also experieced very strong side winds while a storm rolled in. No problems with a mountain bike loaded.
