Yakima's custom landing pads work with control towers and crossbars to create a basic rack system on a wide range of vehicles and surface applications, including factory racks. These multi-purpose landing pads attach permanently to the mounting surface for easy installation of control towers and crossbars.
Permanantly bolts onto truck caps, tent trailers, RV's, or boats.

I installed these on my Hardtop Jeep Wrangler. So far, so good! Easy to do and looks great. I am VERY careful about how much weight I put on them. Primary use is for two smooth water kayaks to carry short distances.

The pads are great in every area EXCEPT they are just too tall and big. I have no doubt that Yakima could have engineered something quite a bit smaller that is just as strong. When you remove the rack (the pads stay attached unless you want to spend a lot of time removing them)
I used pad 11 - your's may be smaller so don't just take my word for it.
The only alternative was regular towers which are too wimpy for me - I have to be able to load my bike and other gear together.
