Since 1880, Wetterlings has produced a unique line of quality axes, making it the oldest axe forger in Sweden. Currently, Wetterlings produces an array of backcountry, forest, and splitting axes made of Swedish carbon alloy steel heads and American hickory handles. Each axe includes a custom leather sheath which covers the blade during transport or storage.

Unique in shape and function, Wetterlings products such as the Expedition Hatchet are slightly thicker than other axes in the market, making them favored for their ability to both split and chop wood. With its light head and long elegant handle, there is no other axe like it on the market.

Not only does Wetterlings have a strong commitment to quality and design, but they also have demonstrated a commitment to the environment. Since March of 2012, the Wetterlings factory has been completely energy self sufficient through the use of environmentally friendly waterpower.

Comments about Wetterlings Swedish Axe Works Appalachian Axe:

First off i own a few wetterlings and a few gransfors. I have old double and single bits and I am always on the hunt for that perfect axe. Overall impressions for me are that wetterlings tend to be sharper out of the box and have a better feel to them.
I use axes every week on my 62 acres i have built a cabin and cleared my land by hand and a great axe is priceless.
Great felling axe, bites in and takes out massive chuncks, easy to use and the perfect weight for me. This axe is now discontinued so i jumped on it as i dont need their new 4 # head. The fit and finish is great for a handmade tool. Stays tight attractive and functional edge guard included rock creek has the best price and i only wish they carried more axes.

If you are looking at it get it and never look back.

Definitely a felling or lumber axe, if you need something for limbing look at foresters fine axe or scandanavians.

Have fun.

Comments about Wetterlings Swedish Axe Works Appalachian Axe:

So I have been shopping at Rock Creek for 20 years, and this is the best piece of gear I have bought from here yet. Super sharp blade, beautiful wood, nice weight for the big stuff, easy to handle for the smaller stuff. Took it for a spin on a two night canoe/camping trip and kept everyone huddling around my fire all night. Buy it.
