The Sherpa is an amazingly smooth and responsive moderate play boat and river running design. The blades are evenly balanced so the catch is clean and immediately powerful while smooth through out the entire stroke.
Small shaft option is available. To know if you need a small diameter shaft, measure your hand from the base of the palm to the tip of your middle finger. If your measurement is 6 1/4" or smaller you should try a small shaft.

The Sherpa has been a great paddle. It took me from my first paddling trip all the way through running class 5. It lasted about 4 years, and I passed it down to a new paddler who will get lots of life from it still.

I use a Werner Sherpa for all of my whitewater paddling. Its a good all around paddle because of its mid-sized blade. I never feel like I'm getting tripped up on it, but it provides as much power as I need. I use the small shaft version because I'm a female paddler and it fits in my hands better. I know some guys who use it, saying it provides better control.

i have been kayaking for about 16 years now. i bought the bent shaft sherpa and it is one of the best paddles i have ever used!!! it goes through the water very smoothly and it feels like the shaft was made just for your own hands! I work at the NOC[nanahala outdoor center] and go on the river every single day. if i am not guiding a river raft, i will ALWAYS use the sherpa.
