The Vasque Sundowner Classic GTX has been reworked for a women's specific fit. This mid-weight backpacker has a reputation for comfort and old-school style, which may explain why it's as common at the grocery store as on the trail. It's also equally at home under the weight of a pack or on a casual day hike.
This classic hiking and backpacking boot is famous for its Gore-Tex Stormsock, which will keep your feet dry and comfortable in the biggest deluge. The Sundowner Classic is also equipped with a Trailweight Monoflex® insole with a steel shank that provides rigidity and support when carrying a heavy pack or hiking on uneven terrain. A dual density Resilion® midsole/outsole system offers softer density rubber on the inside for cushioning and comfort, while the harder rubber on the outside offers resilience and traction.

I had those boots for many years, I don't clean or treat them and they are still totally waterproof.
The sole is not too thick (doesn't feel like high heels...). The inside fits great with the arch, and the fabric isn't slippery.
I even walk in snow (I live in Canada), but wouldn't recommend those boots for winter, as the insulation is minimum.
I'm buying a second pair, as I was super disappointed with another brand...
I would definitely recommend those boots for light to moderate hikes and wet conditions.

I use these boots for hiking on rough trails, maintaining NCT trails. good on hills, use good socks with these boots and you can walk all day and your feet will be fine.
