Comments about Vasque Sundowner Classic GTX (Men's):
I have owned three pairs of the Italian made Sundowners in my lifetime and just had to say goodbye to my last pair that I had for fourteen years. I knew they had changed manufacturing locations but decided to try another pair.
These boots don't even resemble the former glory of the original Sundowners. I shipped them back same day. Vasque should close up shop and walk away with their heads hung low. If you're looking for a serious boot these days, go Danner Mt light. They are expensive but well worth it. I would gladly pay the same amount to have another pair, just one more pair, of the original Sundowners(size 12 wide if anyone has a pair tucked away).

Did not squeak like the boots made in Italy. The China boot does not fit as snug as the old style boot.

Comments about Vasque Sundowner Classic GTX (Men's):
I have a pair of Italian made Sundowners that I bought in 1999. I wore them heavily for 10 years and used them frequently for outdoor activities. I love that they are rugged enough to use hunting and hiking but then just clean them up and wear them with jeans or khakis when going out. Quite simply--I love those boots!
At the urging of my wife I finally broke down and bought a new pair of Chinese made ones a few months ago and I have been very pleased. They are very stiff at first but they are breaking in nicely. They are comfortable and I hope to get 10 years out of this pair. I hate buying products made in China but it is hard to argue with the quality and value of these boots.

Comments about Vasque Sundowner Classic GTX (Men's):
I plan to use these boots for general day hiking along with some extended trips that also include mountain climbing during late spring to early fall. I've done a lot of looking for a traditionally made boot like this and there's not many to be found anymore. While the boot seems to be very well made, I would have paid extra if they were made in the original factory in Italy instead of China. To break them in, I wore them to work for a couple of weeks and I was good to go for a long day hike. I haven't yet put them through any really nasty weather yet ,but last year while in the Sawtooth Mt's in Idaho with my friend had these same boots in some really, really bad weather, his feet were still dry!

These boots are great everyday boots.Chicago winters can get brutal and being able to have an everyday gortex boot that still looks good dressed up or down is great. These boots run big had to return first order so get at least a half size smaller.Could not be happier with my purchase.
