The Vasque Sundowner Classic GTX has become a classic. This mid-weight backpacker has a reputation for comfort and old-school style, which may explain why it's as common at the grocery store as on the trail. It's also equally at home under the weight of a pack or on a casual day hike.

This is the classic leather hiking and backpacking boot with a Gore-Tex Stormsock to keep your feet dry and comfortable. The padded leather collar with Achilles’ notch results in increased comfort, while the various widths allow you to get a customized fit for your feet.

The Trailweight Monoflex insole has a steel shank providing rigidity and support, and the dual density Resilion midsole/outsole system offers softer density rubber on the inside for cushion and harder rubber on the outside for resilience and traction.

Comments about Vasque Sundowner Brown GTX (Men's):

I walk my dogs in these boots everyday through Florida scrub, in loose and sandy soil. The traction and support is perfect. My wife and I are avid hikers, and never are my feet sore or achy after a long trek wearing these gems. As others have stated, don't be fooled by light-weight play boots. They won't last, and neither will you feet, ankles, legs and hips. Buy for the long haul. You body will thank you.

Comments about Vasque Sundowner Brown GTX (Men's):

Had a pair of Sundowner hiking boots for 8 years. Ready for this new pair, however, the quality is sub-par. Look cheaply made when compared to my old pair. Definitely not the quality I was expecting. Sent them back.

I love these boots. I guess the only thing bad about them is that they are stiff untill you break them in. But once you do they are great! I wear them to work in on a concret floor.

Comments about Vasque Sundowner Brown GTX (Men's):

I've had these babies for 11 years, and I'm just about to replace them. You'd better believe I'm getting the exact same boot. These are incredibly well made, classic-styled, old-school, full leather hiking boots with the added benefit of a gore-tex lining. One thing I love about the design is that the back of the boot comes in above your heel, so it really locks your foot in place. The padded collar is also very comfy, and the lacing system is quick and simple. After 11 years, and despite a whole lot of scratches on the leather from many, many miles of hiking, I'm only replacing mine because the rubber is starting to break apart on the soles. Don't waste your money on cheap nylon/suede hiking boots that only last one season -- make the investment in a real pair of full leathers, and you'll never look back!
