The Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race is three exciting days of trail running in the beautiful mountains surrounding Chattanooga. This challenging -- yet attainable -- series includes 18 miles on Raccoon Mountain for Day 1, 22 miles on Lookout Mountain for Day 2, and a 20-mile grand finale on Signal Mountain. We recommend staying at The Crash Pad, and refueling each night at one of Chattanooga’s great eateries.

Proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the use, expansion and promotion of trails in greater Chattanooga.

  • Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race a big hit in its fifth year by Gene Henley
"...'This is just an event that humbles you,' Mueller said. 'Anybody who thinks they're in good shape can be brought back down to earth running in an event like this. You use all of your muscles running on the different terrains, and by the third day, you’re reduced to a hobble.'"
  • Stories from Rock/Creek’s 2011 Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race by Jeff Bartlett
"So, what was the most interesting story from this weekend? Was it Daniel Mueller, blowing past all the racers with the low numbers and dominating the race while wearing bib #101? What about David Workman, traveling down from NC for the race with Aaron Saft, only for Aaron to suffer an injury in the first stage while Workman went on to capture 2nd place overall? Or..."
  • Results & photos from the Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race, Stage 3 by Jeff Bartlett
"Today was the third and final day of the Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race, with 141 runners completing the grueling Signal Mountain course. While Lookout is the longest distance of the three stages, Signal is unquestionably the toughest, with several prolonged stretches of technical, rocky terrain, and the borderline-masochistic staircases heading up to Signal Point..."
  • Results & photos from the Rock/Creek Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race, Stage 1 by Jeff Bartlett
"The Lookout Mountain Stage of the Rock/Creek Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race is now complete. 145 racers finished the 22-mile course, which weaves its way up and down the mountain between the Lula Lake core property and Covenant College. Men’s Stage 1 winner Daniel Mueller, and women’s winner Annette Bednosky, showed no mercy whatsoever..."
  • 2011 Race recap on the Rock/Creek blog, The Chronicle by Jeff Bartlett
"This morning, with some fairly ominous-looking clouds assembled overhead, Rock/Creek’s Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race began with an 18-mile loop around TVA’s Raccoon Mountain trail system. Following up his tremendous winning time at the Rock/Creek Scenic City 1/2 marathon, Daniel Mueller established himself as the man to beat for the remainder of the weekend..."
