What is SmartWool? SmartWool wool means merino wool, a natural fiber from New Zealand merino sheep that breathes better than synthetic fabrics, dries quickly, never smells bad and doesn’t itch like traditional wool. It’s a premium, natural alternative to synthetics. Their PhD fabric is a proprietary blend of merino and nylon for the ultimate in high performance.

Of course, if you’ve heard of SmartWool before, it’s probably because of the socks. SmartWool’s merino socks come in a variety of formulations, with appropriate fit and cushioning for your sport of choice: check out SmartWool's running socks, hiking socks, outdoor socks and more. There's more than just merino wool socks, though – for example, the Microweight Tee and Midweight Hoody are both staff favorites.
