The underarm water feed is really excellent. There's room for pretty much anything you would want for a long unsupported run. If you want to be able to carry a change of clothes get the bigger one (12L). This pack really is excellent, and the major downside is the price. I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet.
This pack fits me well (5'11", 145) and is very adjustable. When I first put it on I thought it didn't fit me well and my arms would hit the bottle holders, but I found that a little adjusting and neither were an issue.
- Many Storage Compartments
- Ultra Running
After seeing others wear the Salomon branded hydration packs I decided to buy this for myself. There are many great things about this pack from how it looks to the snug fit to the many compartments included. However, a tremendous downside of this product for me was the friction I experienced from the material used as water bottle holders. The insides of my arm were instantly bothered when I tried the vest on. As I attempted to mimic my arms moving for a run the burning irritation increased. I am very disappointed that I am having to consider returning it because conceptually it is amazing.
Also, it was suggested through an online chat representative that my body type might not be best for this pack. Of course there is more than just my height and weight to consider (of which I am 5'7" and 140 lbs) but I was thinking that if any body type might be ideal for this pack it would be a smaller frame instead of a larger frame.
- Convenient pockets
- Doesn't bounce
- Easy to fill

- Ultra trail running
I carry hydration equipment for long distance trail running, primarily ultra running. I generally do not like hydration packs and prefer to carry bottles instead, but when running 100 mile trail races, I need additional storage capacity for carrying other gear such as batteries, flashlights, extra food and layers of clothes.
I was looking for a comfortable pack that I could wear for 20 hours and not have it create too much discomfort. I had tried a couple of other brands and none of them ever felt right. I had seen this pack in a few races and asked the users for their opinion and they all gave it a glowing report, so I elected to give it a shot.
I bought it and trained with it for an upcoming 100 miler and wore it on race day. I loved it! I could barely tell I was carrying a pack at all. It was very comfortable and form fitting. Best of all, it was easy to use. Filling it at aid stations was seamless and quick. All my snacks, camera, and trail gear fit nicely in the convenient pockets.
I may have some trouble if I need to carry a lot of warm running gear for nighttime running during 100 milers because the main body of the pack isn't very large. But there are handy straps on the outside of the pack and I plan to attach my light jacket or rain gear to them and see how it works.
Moving forward, this is my full time hydration system of choice. I love it!
- Long runs
I love this pack for long runs on the trail. I tried to use it for long runs on the road and found it to cause me to sweat considerably. I did have to cinch the pack down considerable to keep it from bouncing which may have led to the perspiration issue. Overall, I think the pack is awesome!
- Light barely noticeable
- Runningtrail running
Using this product now to train for my marathon in Feb. Best investment I've made. The pack is super light weight and has enough pockets and compartments to last on a 4 hour or more run. Don't spend your money on any other hydration pack. The Salomon S-Lab hydration set is the way to go!
