I am on my second pair of these shoes... My first ones were great until my toe started to bust through the mesh... They were only a month old so the good people at rock creek exchanged them as a warranty defect. My second pair are a month old and now the grips are separating in several places and they catch and fold over sometimes while walking. I will not be going back to exchange them again it would be embarrassing going back a second time. I have had three other pairs of Solomon's and these are the first pair to be bad quality. I will just not get another xrmission.

I got this shoe for myself and have had no regrets with it. The shoe feels really stable and I love the way Salomon lets you tighten their "laces". I do a little bit of road running, but mostly trail running and I have felt like this shoe can do it all. My only complaint with the shoe is that some of the stitching in the front of the shoe frayed pretty quickly.
Pros

- Good Traction
- Great Fit
- Well built

Best Uses
- Packed trails

- Single Track
This shoe really does it all. It runs on the road just as well as the trail.
The heel fits really well -- very pronounced heel cup unlike the Crossmax (which I also love), but still has plenty of toe room.
Interestingly, the Mission runs like a 4mm drop shoe though it actually has 11mm from heel to toe. It is not as sensitive as something like the Speedcross, but it is more stable. The rounded contour of the outsole and midsole promotes midfoot striking. Great training/racing shoe.
The Mission is also a lower volume shoe. I have found that my Swiftwick socks work best with them. (Something thin.) It is definitely my new favorite.
