I am on my third pair of these shoes. I run in them on occasion, but I use them mostly for a comfortable hiking shoe. They are my go-to shoe for almost everything. Love them!

Comments about Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra Shoe (Women's) - 2008:
One of my favorite trail running shoes of all time has to be the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra. They offer wonderful versatility for all kinds of trails. They are great for running down a gravel road and even better for creek beds. I have logged thousands of miles with multiple pairs of these shoes. They are a medium width shoe with a nice size arch. They are reasonably light with impressive stability.

Comments about Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra Shoe (Women's) - 2008:
These shoes are wonderful. Got my first pair last November, and put them (and myself) through a rigorous 100 miles before the start of the new year. While they are not true "trail flats", the shoe's low profile provides more stability and traction when running through mixed terrain. These shoes are perfect for trails that transition from dewy grass fields to singletrack stumpy, rocky downhill hucks. Given that, they do not provide as much cushion as say the XT Wings or Montrail's Hardrock; however since you ride lower in these (XA Pro 3D Ultra's), you have a lower chance of rolling your ankle. While they do make a Gore-Tex version, I like the non GTX better, because living and running down in the South, I like providing my feet with a little bit more breath ability.
