Comments about Salomon X-Scream Shoe (Men's):

Salomon nailed it with these. The most useful shoes I have yet run in. Been through a dozen pairs of road & trail runners over the years from various brands, and enjoyed them all depending on fit, but no one was thinking head enough to design a shoe like this: for people that don't want to (or can't) drive to the trailhead. With a low-profile lug just deep enough to keep the grip on hard-pack dirt and janky leaves, but with the cushioning and stable ride that makes getting to the trailhead a joy. Perfect for urban parks where there is a mixture of pavement, neglected concrete riddled with unstable chunks and still make quick work of muddy off-camber root-riddled proper trails. No idea about the long-term durability on these, but without lugs to wear down or get chewed off, I suspect it will be the uppers that go eventually. As for the ride: nice, neutral gait with a solid heel cup, but cushy and rounded for us heel-strikers. Springy on take off, with a solid midsole that should easily take some serious miles. Really light, but not a racer or minimal shoe by any means. Overall, probably the most useable trainer on the market.
