Best Uses
I've tried on the Speedcross and some others. Speedcross compared to the Fellcross: Fellcross seemed more flexible and allows for a much cleaner forefoot/mid-foot landing to promote a quick cadence. Cadence is very important to me. I love to run fast! I usually run at 180 steps per min. When the shoes is stiff, It just doesn't feel right. It seems like most trails shoes I get are much too stiff. I now have three pair of La Sportivas, and two pair of Montrails. They were all too stiff for me. I stopped wearing them because I felt like I was starting to get injured.
I also love the decreased heel drop in the Fellcross. I am a healthy runner and I'm trying to keep it that way. After some runs I will do 2 to 4 mile barefoot or in my five fingers (which I love).
My first few runs in the Fellcross worried me a little. The crease forms rub my left arch the wrong way. I try to loosen them and break them in, but it wouldn't stop. Blister!!! I never had blister there before. I was sad because I like these shoes a lot. Then I put and extra shoe insert and No more blister! The shoe was great after that. Now, every time I am off road it's Fellcross.
I ran and won the UpChuck 50k, Lookout Mt 50miler, & Mt. Cheaha 50k in them. I had no blister or problems. I feel very strong and fast in them. Light Muscle! Like it!
I hope this helps you. I do like the Speedcross but love the Fellcross for racing. I wish you healthy running. I highly recommended the Fellcross for fast, neural runners.
