The Flat Out Leash by Ruff Wear looks normal, but when used for a nice walk, it "unleashes" its surprises. Use it like a standard leash, or use the buckle to tighten around your wrist when needing a break or walking fast, and then when you want to run or walk hands free, simply lengthen the buckle to wrap around your waist. Finally, clip the leash around a hitching post to let everyone rest.

I've had this leash for two years now and it has held up very well. It was great when training my dog to be able to reach down for the looped grip toward the buckle for more control, though this would be difficult with a small dog (mine is medium sized).
The best part of this leash by far is the buckle handle. It's very convenient to clip it to a sigh, bench, or tree if you need to use both hands for something else for a moment. And it's very comfortable to wear around your waist while walking (which is what I did when I had a shoulder injury and couldn't hold the leash with my hands). Running with the leash around the waist is also really comfortable.

Great to use with my Border Collies - the waist band is very comfortable even when they are pulling.

I love being able to put around my waist so I can swing my arms while walking doggie. Of course, you need a calm dog to accomplish this. Otherwise, being able to cinch around your wrist still leaves us humans with a lot of versatility. This leash is so sturdy and very easy to hook on to the collar.
