With many of their tents, you can create a functional shelter by using just the fly, the tent poles, and a Footprint (Mountain Hardwear's accessory grommeted sheet that normally serves as protection for your tent's floor). The resulting structure keeps off the rain, provides a fabric floor, and has tremendous ventilation at a fraction of the weight of the complete tent.

Currently being used on a through hike of the AT. Day # 40 with rain 30 of the past 40. the footprint and the tent have worked perfectly even when it is raining at 2 to 4 inches per hour. No tears, packs away well, great value.
