Comments about Outdoor Research Synmat Sleeping Pad:
My wife an I have used several different sleeping pads in the past sixteen years, but none compare to the Outdoor Research Pads. We have older versions Sim Light CF 9 DLX pads that we use for car camping with the "condo tent", and just recently purchased the Synmat 7 for kayaking camping and backpacking. The 7 is comfortable, easy to inflate (once you get the hang of it), insulates very well, and packs surprisingly small. It is slightly heavier than the Thermarest Prolite, but lighter than the Trail Lite. It has a higher R value than either of them, though, and is priced competitively with them. The Synmat 7 also seems to be more substantial and able to absorb more abuse than the Neo Air (although heavier), and has almost double the R value at a substantially lower price. All in all I believe that we made the best choiced for our needs and at this point I give the Synmat 7 our highest rating.
