Brand: Vibram FiveFingers
Located in: Shoes, Sandals
The Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Barefoot Shoe is a secure fitting, incredibly comfortable "shoe" used to give you more balance, better posture and a real connection to any sport you participate in.  The Sprint is Vibram's most versatile product with hook and loop closures along the heel and instep giving you a tighter, more form fitting feel than even a climbing shoe.

Five Fingers Barefoot technology comes from the age old idea that walking or running barefoot puts you in touch with the natural movement of your feet, legs and entire body, creating a better posture and, for some people, a connection to the earth and energies within.  These help to enhance your grip on surf boards, in yoga positions, Pose Method running and fitness training.

Constructed with a thin, abrasion resistant stretch polyamide fabric that fits low on the foot for comfort and quick drying.  The outsole is a flexible, non marking TC1 performance rubber sole that is razor siped to enhance grip over all sorts of terrain.

SPRINT IS BEST FOR: Light Trekking, Bouldering, Pose Method Running, ChiRunning, Fitness Training, Yoga, Pilates, Sailing, Boating, Kayaking, Canoeing, Surfing, Windsurfing, Flats Fishing, Travel

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

I use these five fingers to run barefoot. They give me the free feeling of running barefoot without the fear of going outside barefoot. I use them on the treadmill and outside throughout the year to get my barefoot running on. I'm a believer in running barefoot and the effects it has on your form, musculature in your feet etc. Do your research before starting. I love these shoes and they fit my lifestyle. Great fitting too!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

When I have nothing but these shoes on my feet and my ipod strapped to my arm I feel nothing but freedom. I feel like I am a spartan warrior preparing for battle, the calm before the storm. It's exciting, the feel of the street, the wind, it's like being a little kid again. I sometimes find myself running so hard I throw up, then I just laugh and run right back to my car it's great. Everyone needs a pair!!!! Who knew jaming and running in these ugly shoes could be so amazing!!!!!

Sprints for walking, KSO's for running

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

A bit stiffer than the KSO's which make them easier to get on, but that same stiffness makes them less comfortable to run in than the KSO's

They are cooler to wear in the hot weather so I use them for walking and at the pool.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

The Vibram 5-fingers will transform your gait, both walking and running, to a much more natural, energizing flow. The shoe gives all the natural benefits of barefoot, with the fear of glass shards and random pebbles removed.

I have only had this product for two months, and have been running and walking in it since. I can hardly stand to run in traditional running shoes anymore. You quickly get used to having to individually guide the toes into their slots. These slots are essential to allowing and even encouraging toe splay, a natural function totally cut off by normal toe boxes on shoes. I find the soles to be a perfect thickness - protective without interfering with the body's natural sense of the ground. Two months is too short to assess overall durability, but there have not been any glaring defects thus far under near-constant wear.

I ordered my normal shoe size and glossed over the Vibram fit guidance. Don't do this - the men's run a little large, the women's (my wife got a pair, too) a little small. Mine are a little large, and the slightly-off fit puts the strap bosses in a position to pinch my ankle in extreme supination. I've been able to work around this with how I manage the straps, but I think if you follow the sizing guidance, you'll get excellent comfort without tweaking. Additionally, the uppers hold more heat than one would think, but this is only an issue at rest. When moving, air flows through the shoe readily, and they're very comfortable.

Lastly, I find the footbed gets a little greasy when soaking wet, as in running in the rain. This caused me some ankle and Achilles stress early on, that wasn't present during dry days. The Vibram folks may want to investigate some other footbed materials to prevent this.

All in all, though, this shoe will transform your entire sense of your body when walking and running in an amazing positive way. I absolutely love these shoes!

Didn't fit me right so I returned them
By Eagle JacksonVerified Purchaser from Seattle on 8/24/2009
Cons:
Uncomfortable

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

The toes didn't fit mine well and the shoes were quite uncomfortable to wear. I wore them around the house for a bit seeing if I could get used to the feel, but they only got more uncomfortable so I returned them. If they fit my feet well I think I'd like them. I bought them for indoor rowing, and they would be ideal, if they were comfortable on my feet around the toes.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

I bought my pair at the end of July and ever since I got them I haven't worn anything else! They are very comfortable and are a great topic of conversation. Most comments are how weird they look...only if they could feel how good they are! I did have to wash them once (I was drenched in a rain storm one day so they were very squishy), which they washed up very nicely, it only took a day to air dry so not much down time at all. I highly recommend these shoes, although they may look funny they are comfortable and very breathable. Kudos to Vibram!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

I have gone barefoot for as long as I can remember. I even went barefoot on my mission trip to Africa this summer. These shoes are so lightweight and comfortable while also being rugged and durable that it was love at first sight. As I explore the swamps and abandoned traintracks around my city I can tell this is how shoes were meant to be. I enjoy not only the protection of hiking shoes but also the comfort, serenity, and feeling of going barefoot in a fresh cut field.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

I use Five Fingers for any gym activities and I love them. I used to untie, readjust and re-tie my shoes almost every 30-40 minutes but these form to the bottom of your feet and you never have to worry about how your feet slide around or get squished inside your shoes. They are even better than normal shoes for squats, calf extensions, etc... Also, these are great if you are trying to line up your body by where you place your feet.

The sizing chart was spot on for me but I am used to tight fitting shoes. Remember, they fit more like a toe sock than a shoe. You don't want extra room because the heel strike will be in the wrong place.
I have a pair of Sprints and I'm going to buy a pair of KSO's soon.

They make you feel your environment in great detail, when at the same time block you from any threats or harms from it, like nothing else out there. A Darwinian product, with an evolutionist touch, no better shoe for our species.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

I bought these "shoes" to improve my running, both long distance and sprinting. It has done just that. Make sure you find a workout plan to transition from normal running shoes to these or your calves will be destroyed for a few days. I used to work out in socks to create better stability in my core and legs during power lifts. The Five Fingers takes the place of the many pairs of socks that have gotten holes in them from the disgusting gym floor. I have had no problems with these shoes to date and recommend the Five Fingers to anyone that is interested in taking their performance inside and outside the gym to the next level.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

Great for all outdoor (and indoor) activities. I like the Sprint because of the top strap to help keep the shoe secure to my foot. It's still relatively easy to collect dirt, so the KSO model will probably be my next purchase.

If using these to run, take it easy at first and work your way up to longer times and distances. You will be using muscles you never use when wearing shoes, so expect some soreness.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint (Men's):

These are great for anything on the water, like boating, etc. I've used them for barefoot-style running some too. The only down side I've experienced is if your toes aren't the right length for the toe holes. My pinky toe on one foot is a little too long and aches after a few hours in the shoes.
