The Rio Frio paddling jacket from Patagonia, made with PVC-free foam, is designed for whitewater paddling that demands rigorous torso flexibility and freestyle movement.

Pulling off a double helix or 180-move requires a PFD that allows for unlimited flexibility and freestyle movement. Equipped with the innovative Patagonia FlowFit foam, the Rio Frio contours around your torso for a customized, comfortable fit.

A two-tiered Stablelock waistbelt system secures the front zip vest to your body with a cinch buckle and separately adjustable waistbelt. Streamlined front zipper pockets with internal D-rings stash on-water essentials. Ventilating aero-mesh fabric lines the back and waistbelt; jersey-covered neoprene at arm holes for no-chafe comfort. My first time in a paddling PFD (besides the old orange things). Turned out to be a good deal. Comfortable to wear, although it is a little warm in hot weather/warm water. Wasn't cheap but should last me a long time.

I paddle big water and sure people might judge me because it is not your tipical vest cuz of zipper in front- yet you cant ask for a better vest. Great price!!

My wife and I have the large and small version of this jacket in blue and yellow. We use them to paddle our canoe, and sea kayaks. We have found them to be comfortable in terms of heat & fit. We have also noticed that they are highly visable in the water - especailly the yellow. There is just enough room for our compass, emergency kit, whistle and a few bars in the pockets, we really like them.
