The Rio Serrano by Patagonia is a front-zip sea kayaking–specific PFD that offers a pliable, customized fit for day trips or expeditions.

Fjords and straits are the playground of the Rio Serrano, Patagonia's most advanced sea kayaking–specific PFD. Patagonia's innovative FlowFit foam contours around your torso for a customized, comfortable fit. The PVC-free Gaia foam is easy on the environment.

A patented, two-tiered Stablelock waistbelt system secures the front-zip vest to your body with a cinch buckle and separately adjustable waistbelt. Ventilating aero-mesh fabric lines the back and waistbelt; jersey-covered neoprene at armholes prevents chafing. Two large mesh pockets with internal D-rings and buckle closures keep essentials secure. Patented lash point at left shoulder for flash beacon.

The shoulder straps of the Rio Serrano are mesh and they are bit rough on bare skin. Other than that it is a great PDF. Also can be used on white water rafting.

This PFD is great! I spend many hours at a time kayaking in the Florida heat. The main reason behind my choice in purchasing this product was the ventilation and the large arm slots. Keeping cool is a must when out in the heat and even with the great ventilation I still sweat like crazy which the large arm slots help to prevent rubbing and irritation with my underarms.

Great fitting PFD, easy to adjust, doesn't ride up like some and the front zipper pockets can store most needed items. I'd recommend this vest to any rafter or kayaker.

I'm guilty of not usually wearing a pfd while kayaking until I got the Rio Seranno PFD from Patagonia. I love it. It's comfortable and doesn't get in the way. I don't feel like I have a anaconda wrapped around me. I can wear it and paddle just fine!
