The Marmot PreCip Jacket is an extremely lightweight waterproof/breathable shell. The PreCip is fully featured with pitzips, core venting and everything else you'd expect from a $400 piece, yet it weighs half as much and costs only a fraction.

Made with a microporous polyurethane that is impregnated with silicon dioxide particles. These particles create small, numerous, very consistent holes that allow the barrier to pass small water vapor molecules but not the bigger liquid ones. This keeps the rain out while letting your sweat vapor work its way outside, away from your body, to keep you dry from the inside as well as from the outside.

Also, the PreCip Jacket is highly compressible - perfect for those outings when you don't expect it to rain but going without rain gear would be too risky.

Purchased this for a trip to Montana and Idaho. It drizzled often, and was very cold at night. I was happy to have such a light weight, waterproof layer.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

I'd been wanting a precip jacket for a while and found a great deal here at Rockcreek [...]. My concern was sizing as I am in between a small and a medium (5'5" tall/ 120 lbs). I chose the small and it is more form fitting but can comfortably wear a sweater underneath. As a friend (an owner of two Precip jackets) suggested to me as I'm thinking about getting another one in a different color-- next time I'll get a medium for a slightly looser fit--but the small is just fine! I wore it the other day in a heavy downpour and was very pleased with how dry I stayed.Highly recommend--very stylish too!

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

I tried this on in a local store and liked the fit, but they only carried it in black. I wanted a bright color for bicycling. I found a nice bright yellow on line--really pretty color! I bought it roomy enough to layer over fleece on cold days. It's completely waterproof, and works great on my bike! We have been having a very rainy fall, and it keeps me dry. I plan to wear it all winter for bike commuting, and also for skiing as an outside layer. In retrospect I could have used some reflective tape. I haven't even tried the pit zips yet, although they seem like a great idea on longer rides. Many bike-specific rain jackets are sized for men, or if for women, are styled to be tight (which isn't really very practical), so I was delighted to find a woman's waterproof and functional rain jacket in a comfortable, attractive style.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

I bought this because my old OLD raincoat was falling apart and not keeping out the rain. This is great! I really enjoy the adjusters on the hood! It's very light so definitely not designed to keep you warm but you can definitely throw on a fleece layer underneath if need be. I also love the obnoxious day-glo green color I got. Even brighter in person :D

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

This is a great jacket for summer rain hiking. It will keep you dry, but there is no warmth. I will be trying it over layers soon. Great features to keep stickiness at bay. Cuffs, pockets all aid dryness experience. This color is also summery.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

I just moved to Oregon where it rains a lot more than where I last lived. I end of wearing this jacket or carrying it with me almost everywhere I go (which is mostly by bike). It's very light and packable. I've had it for about a month and a half and I have no complaints, yet. I would highly recommend it.

This is a nicely designed waterproof jacket that comes in an assortment of fashionable colors. It is relatively inexpensive for what you get. Has a roll-away hood, useful pockets, and is easily packed into a small volume, making it very useful as rain-insurance when traveling.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

I'm an avid hiker in the Rocky Mountains, and while one hopes that rain stays away, it happens. The Marmot jacket is so lightweight to carry that it's not an issue. I roll it up and put a rubber band around it and put it in the pack. It's also great to have on those cold mornings when you have an early start and it's maybe in the 30's or 40's, but you know you'll be peeling off layers as the day warms up. I love it. Don't know about the complaints of color. I ordered the Tamale (orange) and it's super. (I wanted a BRIGHT color for safety reasons.)

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

I bought this jacket for a trip to Alaska because I was told it would rain every day. I went for a week, and we didn't see one drop of rain. I'm convinced it's because I bought a good rain jacket!

Nevertheless, it's a great jacket, and I'm definitely keeping it. I love the underarm zip vents. I can wear it in the heat without melting. One comment though - I ordered the virtual pink/purple berry color because it looks like a subtle color difference online. When I received it, they were two very different colors. Just be prepared for a pink and purple jacket with this color. Other than that, I think it's all I could ask for with a rain jacket

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

This jacket is such a good deal, the perfect rain jacket for a reasonable price. It is so lightweight, I keep it in my bag at all times! I do think they run a little big though, I usually wear a large in outerwear, but a medium in this jacket fit me perfect.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Jacket (Women's):

The Marmot precip is a great all around rain jacket. It's lightweight and easily packable, and has all the features you need (like pit zips) and none that you don't for a good price. I've been very pleased with mine, and have even given these as birthday gifts for my husband and brother.
