The book Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner is by Dean Karnazes and it profiles his life and experiences with being one of the best ultramarathoners in the country.  In the book he claims "There is magic in misery". While it would be easy to write off his habit of running for 100 miles at a time - or longer - as mere masochism, it's impossible to not admire his tenacity in pushing his body to reach one extreme goal after another.

Comments about Books and Calendars Dean Karnazes, Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner:

This is a great book, and it's easy to see why it was a bestseller for so long. Dean's story is inspiring without being offputting or intimidating. He's not a guy with a giant ego, he's just a regular person who has a family, a successful business, and happens to have acquired an extreme addiction to running. He's articulate and engaging, and he'll make you want to lace up the old running shoes!
