Hardshells will not allow rain or snow in, but will allow perspiration out, keeping you dry and comfortable. Levels of breathability in a rain jacket vary, from basic as found in the Marmot PreCip Jackets, to the most breathable as found in the many Gore-Tex jackets. If you need maximum breathability for more athletic pursuits, and you aren't as worried about having an absolutely waterproof jacket, try one of our many men's softshell jackets. These also make great layering pieces under a hardshell.
