KINGPIN 4

quantity:

The Kingpin 4 by Yakima is a mid-level 4-bike carrier mounts on 2-inch receiver hitches. The Kingpin's dual-arm design fits more bike types, and Pin-fold arms fold down when not in use. This rack can be tilted down for access to the back of the vehicle. The Kingpin 4 also features SwitchBlade anti-swing cradles. The Kingpin is compatible with DeadLock security system, PowderHorn, and 1-Ό" hitch adapter.

Check out the Kingpin 4 Instructions fo full details.

Q: Will I be able to get in to the back of my vehicle with a KingPin 4 installed?
A: The KingPin 4 can be tilted down enough to allow most hatches or double gate doors to open fully. Bikes will have to be removed first. To keep the bikes on and have enough clearance for asymmetrical doors and tailgates a "gate” style carrier should be used.

Q: What type of trailer hitch does it use?
A: This system requires a 2-inch receiver hitch, class II or greater.  Only a Yakima 1” adapter can be used to fit a 1” receiver hitch.

Q: Can I add more bikes?
A: No.

Q: What is the difference between the King Pins and the BigHorns?

A: The support arms on the KingPin fold down, whereas the BigHorns do not.

Q: Can I use this product if I have a spare tire on the back of my vehicle?
A: Probably not, receiver hitches and spare tires vary greatly so only a test fit at a dealer will tell you for sure. As a very rough gauge (no promises) the KingPin 4 has about 8-3/8” of clearance between the hitch-bolt hole and the inner side of the upright mast. If it looks like that’s enough clearance, try one on at your dealer. Use of a hitch extender is not recommended as it would increase leverage and lack anti-wobble features. Should you decide to use one anyway, be advised that stability and capacity will be reduced.

Q: Can I add the DeadLock system?
A: Yes. The Deadlock security system has a cable lock for the bikes and a lock for the hitch pin.

Q: Can it carry skis?
A: Yes, with the PowderHorn accessory installed.

Q: Is there a weight limit?
A: Maximum load is 4 bikes/120 lbs.

Q: How much play is normal (when in the hitch)?
A: Hitches, like anything else, will have slight variations in dimensions. The critical dimension for a hitch is the I.D. or Interior Dimension (the space inside the hitch). The critical dimension for a hitch product is the O.D. or Outside Dimension of the tongue. The team has designed the tongues of our new hitch racks to allow no play, but some hitches out there may have a slightly oversized I.D., causing play in the hitch. Tighten the hitch bolt completely to reduce play.
