I bought a pair of Quarks(fantastic) this past winter season and started out with the clipper leashes. This was a big mistake. I found the leashes difficult to get out of when on steep ice and trying to place a screw. The clip mechanism is not at all easy with gloves on. The freelock system is simple, light and much easier to get out of on a steep pitch with gloves. I would recommend this system for water or alpine ice climbing.
