The Bug Backpack by Petzl is designed exclusively for long, single day, multi-pitch routes. Wear it on the approach to carry your heavy gear and then throw it on and climb with it to the top. Constructed to carry high on the back allowing easy access to the back of your harness, and enables a rope to be strapped to the bottom of the pack. The Bug's waistbelt gives extra comfort for heavy loads and tucks away for freedom of movement when climbing.
Hydration compatible makes it easier to carry water up the route as opposed to clunky, heavy bottles and a clever design that includes the essentials: guidebook pocket on the outside, attachment loop for an emergency headlamp, zippered mesh pocket with key clip, and small pocket on shoulder strap for topo map.
Great for carrying those heavy loads of gear to the base with wide, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps for support and comfort while the rounded rectangular shape gives you great balance when scrambling on talus or uneven terrain.

Comments about Petzl Bug Backpack:
This pack will hold your average rack,a harness, 1 Liter of water and lunch on the inside. There is space for a topo map and a guide book but the book spot is really not in the best place.... but it works. I clipped my shoes and helmet to the daisy chain and have had no issues. The Rope straps WILL hold a rope in a Metolius rope bag (that includes a tarp). The pack does ride high so there is no interfereance with a harness. I was sad it did not have internal loops to seperate your rack. I also would like the zippers to go down further. The size is a bit smaller than I though but so far it holds just enough..I guess if I need more I'll buy a MH splitter.
