Comments about Pelican 1300 Case:
When it's going to be too wet to trust a drybag, or my equipment is going to be jostled around and abused, there's nothing that does the job like a Pelican Case. I own several sizes, and the Pelican 1300 is perfect for a digital SLR and lens or flash, as well as various other types of electronic equipment. The pick-and-pluck foam makes it very easy to customize the padding for your particular application.
Drop it, sit on it, drag it through the mud, it really doesn't matter. These things are absolutely bombproof. My Pelican 1300 has stood up to every torture I've thrown at it. The latches are extremely sturdy, and these are suitable for long-term storage in damp environments if you throw a desiccant packet into the case.
They're slightly awkward to put inside a pack, due to the rectangular shape, but I've lashed mine to the deck of my sea kayak with great results.
