When a midwinter nor'easter rolls into town, meet it at the station in the ready-for-anything Tres 3-in-1 Parka. You can wear the shell alone in the rain, add the zip-out jacket for cold, wet weather or hit the streets in just the liner when the skies clear. The durable 2-layer H2No Performance Standard shell features a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to resist persistent moisture. A waterproof/breathable barrier adds mountaineering-level storm protection, while the inside lining wicks moisture, dries quickly and glides smoothly over layers. Shell details include an internally adjustable, removable hood, a 2-way front zipper protected by an external storm flap with hidden snap closure, a stand-up collar and a microfleece-lined chin flap. The zip-out jacket attaches to the shell via the front zipper and snapped loops at the cuffs and neck. Horizontal quilting and Traceable Down (third-party-verified, non-live-plucked, non-force-fed) 600-fill-power duck down warm the coldest city nights. Shell pocketing includes two zippered handwarmer pockets and one chest pocket; the zip-out jacket has two handwarmers and an internal chest pocket that doubles as a stuffsack. Shell is lower hip length; jacket is hip length.

Comments about Patagonia Tres 3-in-1 Parka (Men's):

The parka is water-proof and keeps me warm. I had an occasion at which I needed to walk in heavy rain for 15 min. The parka kept me dry and warm. The coat fits me well. I weight 140 lbs and I'm 5'9" tall. The coat keeps me warm with only a sports shirt inside when it's above 40F, and with a layer of a wool pull-over when it's above 20F. I give four stars because it's over-priced. I purchased this parka because I do not have any other option. I am too skinny so my choice is very limited. This parka should be priced at 300 dollars or less.

    • Q:

I was just looking for a guess on what size I’d be in the Patagonia tres 3-in-1 jacket…

I’m 5”11,roungly 90kgs. I’ve got pretty broad shoulders, a 43-45” chest, a wide back, but a 32-34” waist. (I go to the gym, so I am usually a large/XL in clothes)I.e in norse projects shirts I’m a large. But jackets XL, but this is too far baggy round the midsection. L is a bit too tight around the back in the Norse projects jackets.

I like a tight-er fit around the midsection but I’m not a fan of too tight around the back and shoulders. I don’t mind a little snug but as long as it doesn’t hinder my movement. It can be difficult finding a good fit!

Based on these, what size would you recommend? Would a large be too big around the waist?

        A:

A large might be a little roomy in the waist -- I have a 33" waist myself, but only a 39" chest, so I usually wear Patagonia's mediums -- but you'd DEFINITELY not be able to fit your shoulders into a smaller size.
