Stand Up Shorts - 5" (Men's)
Product Number: 24269
Whether you're tempering steel in the shop or swinging leads at the crags, the rugged 10-oz 100% organic cotton of the Men's Stand Up Shorts (5") by Patagonia stays tough. The long-wearing canvas softens and personalizes with age. Doubled fabric in the seat increases durability and forms two rear pockets; a set-in pocket holds a wallet. Inseam (size 32) is 5". Garment-washed for softness and minimal shrinkage. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Comments about Patagonia Stand Up Shorts - 5" Inseam (Men's):
Well I heard these ran large, so I took a gamble by ordering the sz 28's that were 50% off. I found they ran true to size and were quite a bit too small (I normally wear 30, which can be a little large in some brands). So I'll be returning those unfortunately and I guess I'll go ahead and buy two pairs at full price (why delay the inevitable?). I've used other shorter inseam shorts from various brands over the years but none were my white wale of shorts, and living in FL, I wear shorts almost everyday. Anyways these are great, thick and sturdy but still soft from the get go. And unlike some other brands, the 5 inch inseam really is indicitive of the length. Nice and short. Some other brands claim similar inseams but somehow end up being right down to my knees somehow, and I'm 5'11" (cough columbia).I gave 4 stars instead of 5 just because I haven't actually worn them for any length of time, but I have no doubt they'll hold up.

Comments about Patagonia Stand Up Shorts - 5" Inseam (Men's):
I am a active young man 20 years old and the two most frequent items found in my closet are T Shirts and Shorts which is typical for guys my age. So many of men's shorts have such long inseam lengths of 11 to 12 inches they reach almost to the knees and even beyond them. These are more properly called long shorts or short longs. I like to bare my legs with much shorter 5 inch inseam lengths so that more of my bare legs are exposed to the air for ventilation when it is hot as well as the sun for a more complete suntan of the legs. I purchased several pairs of Patagonia mens 5 inch inseam shorts and enjoy them very much and they are more comfortable than long shorts and I look better in them and they are suitable for a lot of activities such as hiking, playing Hackey Sack, working out in the yard, ect. I practically live in my shorts. I like the heavy duty metal zipper button which does not break as easily as plastic buttons.
I am a college student and it has almost become a tradition for young men to wear shorts to class either with T Shirts, Shorts, and Flip Flops with no socks or T Shirts, Shorts, and Athletic Sneakers with white tube socks even when the weather is cold with no jackets at all. I follow this tradition and wear shorts to class every day and alternate between wearing T Shirts ,Shorts and Flip Flops with no socks to class as well as wearing T Shirts, Shorts, and Athletic Sneakers with white tube socks to class even when it is cold with no jacket at all. I drive a light motorcycle to class in my T Shirt and Shorts even when it is cold and foggy often with dense fog. My bare legs get a bit of a chill and I have more exposed bare legs from the shorter lengths and my bare arms get chilled as well as my feet if I am wearing Flip Flops but not if I am wearing sneakers with socks. My girlfriend likes to see more of my bare legs which these shorts make possible and young men are starting to bare their legs more to college classes with their preference to shorter shorts.
