The Men's Rock Guide Pants by Patagonia are made from a lightweight 4.5-oz stretch-woven nylon and spandex fabric; with 40-UPF sun protection. First and foremost, these lightweight, soft, stretch-woven nylon pants with 2-way stretch serve a primary purpose: climbing.

They have articulated knees and a gusseted crotch to match body dynamics and a 2-way zippered fly for hassle-free relief while wearing a harness. The athletic (not baggy) cut includes straight lower legs with a wide hem, making for easy-to-roll-up cuffs that stay in place through footwork-intensive routes.

The button waist has belt loops and a brushed interior for next-to-skin comfort. Pockets include two handwarmers, one rear zippered hip and one stitched-on zippered thigh. With 40-UPF sun protection.

Inseam (size 32) is 32".

Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Comments about Patagonia Rock Guide Pants (Men's):

Has anyone noticed that Patagonia is the only company making softshell pants or technical pants in odd-numbered sizes? Well, I have, because I'm a 33 waist and I enjoy being able to purchase pants that fit. Patagonia, I salute you.

I bought these to use for spring and fall hiking, but ended up using them on a winter trip and was amazed at how the snow just bounced right off of them. Then I wore them hiking off-trail through the woods, and was amazed at how well they held up to pricker bushes, despite being so lightweight and stretchy. Then I wore them on a 3-day trip out of town, and was amazed at how comfortable they were, and how good they looked even after wearing all weekend.

So these are hiking pants, or maybe rock climbing pants, or maybe travel pants. You know what? They're just awesome pants, trail or travel. I wish they had a pocket on each side in the back, but the thigh pocket is very handy.

One thing I don't like about a lot of hiking pants is that they're SO lightweight, they just kind of sag and "hang" funny on my legs. These seem to look better and fit better, despite being every bit as lightweight as the other options. I wouldn't hesitate to wear these to dinner with a button-up shirt, for sure.

The bottom of the leg is slightly wider than I'm used to, but this is to facilitate easy cuffing for rock climbing or stream crossings. The hem at the ankle is extra wide, which helps them stay cuffed... a very useful feature!

Comments about Patagonia Rock Guide Pants (Men's):

These pants are awesome. You can wear them over and over and not have to wash them. If you do wash them, they dry super fast making them great for travel. The hem at the bottom makes them great for rolling up when climbing. I have used them in everything from hiking in knee deep snow while staying dry to rock climbing and hiking in spring. And hey, they look good enough to wear casually. Hard to beat for the price.
