The demands of long-distance running are challenging enough, and then the wind kicks in. Damn. But Patagonia's Houdini Pants can be like a little package of gold. Weighing in at a scant 3.1 ounces, these windbreaker pants block wind, and their deceptively strong 100% nylon ripstop fabric has a Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish that sheds light rain. Snap closures on the lower cuffs allow for easy on/off over shoes, and reflective logos sit above the left knee and on the rear pocket. When the storm passes you can stuff the Houdini back into its zippered rear pocket (with a reinforced carabiner clip loop).

- Superb Fit
- Windwater Resistant
- Lightweight backpacking
Comments about Patagonia Houdini Pants:
I have been looking for a very light weight pants that I could use for running and lightweight backpacking, that would feature a degree of water resistance, would have some kind of cuff adjustments and at least one small pocket. Beside Patagonia Houdini pants there were also lightweight pants from Mont bell and Montane that I considered but did not have all of the features described above, so I ordered Patagonia Houdini. Pants are extremely lightweight, quite amazing considering they have adjustable cuffs and a pocket at the back that can be used to pack the pants into. DWR works quite well, pants resist light rain yet remain breathable enough, a good balance. There are snap closures at the bottom that allow perfect fit. In terms of size I usually wear 34"/36" waist and 32" length, and Houdini in size L was perfect fit in every way. The fit is not baggy at all, quite slim, yet the cut is articulated in the legs so you do not feel constricted in any way despite the slim fit.
I also have Patagonia Houdini jacket that I purchased years ago, when apparently the fabric used was more breathable than the latest fabric at the expense of water resistance, however I did not notice any significant breathability issues with the pants so I thought I would mention that as well (of course you sweat less in the legs).
They also look very good, so superb pants in every way, the best in its category for sure.
