For every propelling tailwind, there’s a wicked downpour, a week of flats and a morning full of distracted drivers. We designed the Half Mass messenger bag to get you through the highs and lows of daily commuting. Perfectly sized for a day's worth of gear, the Half Mass has padding on the back and along the contoured base to protect the contents and provide structure. Inside, a padded computer sleeve accommodates most 15-inch laptops. The main compartment features a drop pocket that secures with a hook-and-loop tab, a mesh pocket, a padded electronics pocket and pen sleeves. The cover flap overlaps the sides of the bag to block rain; its pocket closes with a water-resistant zipper. The external side pocket stows a phone, power cords or water bottle. The bag's no-slip shoulder strap is fully adjustable, and the waist strap stows away. With a topside carrying handle, a reflective panel for visibility at night and a bike-light mount. Made of 8.4-oz 600-denier 100% recycled polyester with a polyurethane coating and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Comments about Patagonia Half Mass Closeout:

I LOVE my half mast. It is more comfortable than I ever imagined. It has all sorts of pockets and quite roomy- I wish the laptop section would detach (and become a separate laptop bag, like previous models), but oh well... I am still pretty happy with it.

        Comments about Half Mass Closeout:

I love this bag as an everyday, carry all the stuff I'll need bag. I can put my wallet, daytimer/calendar, gym clothes, keys, phone, glasses, water, laptop, graded papers, class books, etc in it and I'm ready for whatever. It's also a great overnight bag/carry-on for air travel. The strap is adjustable and has an adjustable paddled section for extra comfort. There are secret pockets and convenient spots for virtually anything you might need on a day to day basis. The great colors make it hard to choose just one.

          Comments about Half Mass Closeout:

This bag is the best all-around bag I've owned in years. It was the only bag I took to Phoenix for 5 days--5 clothing changes, running clothes, a toothbrush, and a laptop (my shoes were already there). I use it to get my school books and essays to grade back and forth from school and I still have room for my purse and a bottle of water. It looks great (I love the turquoise), is super rugged, and comfortable to carry for extended periods of time. It's also great for the gym or just around town as an over-sized shopping bag. It has convenient zip compartments inside and out as well as a water bottle holder and a padded laptop area. I think you'll find it is truly a great design.

            Comments about Half Mass Closeout:

I picked this bag up to serve double duty as both my day to day office bag, as well as my show site gack bag. Is able to carry my stage tools, my show binders, vitamins, lunch, water bottle, jacket, and numerous other odds and ends will being comfortable and easily accesible.

I haven't had the bag for very long, so i can't really comment to its durability. However, I'm deffinetly giving it a rough work out, and it has held up well thus far.

                A:

Actually, this IS the earlier version of the Half Mass, it's out of stock and will be that way forever. The current-season Half Mass is here: http://www.rockcreek.com/patagonia/half-mass-messenger-bag/26749.rc ...per your question, the size of the Half Mass has changed. It used to be a 20L pack, but it's now a 15L pack. The 20L version is gone forever.

            • Q:

Is this the most recent version of the bag. The picture suggests it is, but the specs look like it is the older, larger model. Is this 15L or 20L? The newest is 15. Thanks.
