The Men's Better Sweater Jacket by Patagonia is a soft, full-zip polyester fleece jacket with a sweater-knit face with the aesthetics of wool and a warm fleece interior.
Expert concert-hopping at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival requires a discerning ear, a hollow leg and a sweater that doubles as a seat cushion. Patagonia's Better Sweater Jacket is made with a timeless sweater-knit weave and the warmth and durability of 9.5-oz polyester fleece. The stand-up collar has a zipper garage, and zippered handwarmer pockets keep your fingers toasty. Micro-polyester trim at the collar, cuffs and hem wicks moisture.

I bought this fleece for casual wear in slightly colder climates and as a layering piece for hiking/backpacking/travel. It's not great for sub-48-50 degrees F or windy weather, as it is notably not windproof. But it looks like it would pack up small and would dry quickly on the trail, and it has layered well in casual use with other jackets. I bought the tan color, and both my wife and I really like the way it looks.
Main drawbacks: the collar can be a little obtrusive, but stands up well enough to be able to forego a scarf, depending on how cold it is. The hemline doesn't cinch, so note that if it's something you generally look for in a fleece layer.

This jacket is great! I saw one in a local hiking store but they didn't have the size/color I was looking for. The jacket is great for wearing around the house or the office. I live in Michigan and it's been a little windy lately and that's definitely an area that this jacket lacks. With that being said, I couldn't be happier. I wear the jacket at work and never feel overheated. I'm sure it'll be great in the spring/fall.

This is a great jacket to wear around town or around the house. It is a heavier jacket than expected and keeps me very warm in cold weather. Not as technical as some other Patagonia jackets, but a very nice jacket.

I love the Patagonia Better Sweater. It is very comfortable and stylish, you can wear it backpacking as a 300 weight fleece jacket, or wear it in town. It's less than a pound weight and very warm.

I recently bought a few new jackets and sweaters and this is by far the best sweater/jacket I got. It's supremely comfortable and looks great. It's very warm and have I mentioned it's comfortable? :) I absolutely love this jacket and am planning on getting a hoody version of it too!

I bought this jacket for my husband and he really likes it. It fits very well (he is 6'1", medium build and we ordered a large) and is neither too snug nor loose around the hem like some other fleece jackets he has. The fabric has the feel and appearance of washed wool, but is a soft fleece. He liked it so well that we plan to order a second one in another color.
