  • Q:

Is this product appropriate for canyoneering: i.e. will the material tolerate the abrasive and abusive treatment in narrow canyons and will it be waterproof when submerged and while swimming through these canyons?

I think yes, with the caveat that most of my canyoneering has been done in Zion and the San Rafael Swell. This pack will definitely be waterproof in those conditions and will float. It won't be quite as durable as a heavy PVC drybag would be -- but if you have ever carried a normal fabric pack, soaking wet, with heavy drybags inside it, then you have a good frame of reference for whether that's a good trade-off. I think so.
