As a Seattle-based company, MSR is not at home on the trail without a cup of rich aromatic, freshly brewed cup of joe, which is why they introduced the MugMate coffee/tea filter. It’s low profile enough to be stored in just about any mug or cup, and you won’t have to worry about packing out soggy paper filters. The MugMate is capable of making café-quality brew for the outdoor java junky.

Comments about Msr MugMate Coffee-Tea Filter:
I balked at the price in the shop, but I've never been sorry. I got this to make loose-leaf tea on the trail, and it worked brilliantly for that, too. When my coffee maker at home broke, I paired it with a 22-oz. thermal carafe I had bought elsewhere and it just perfectly fit in the neck of the thing, so I brewed my coffee right in that, and it works so well I'm tempted to take this very lightweight filter *and* the very NOT lightweight carafe along as a pair. I never did buy a new coffee maker - this makes better brew and it stays warm for ages.
Very easy to clean - which when not present is a design flaw I find extremely irritating. The design where the top is the saucer you put the dripping filter in while it cools down is a nice touch. Tap tap into the compost and a quick rinse in the sink and you're done. Highly recommended.
