The Footprint is a custom ground tarp for the Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 tent. Tough, waterproof tent footprints protect the floor from rocks, roots, twigs and other such ground hazards. Equipped with grommet tabs that attach to the tent pole, this footprint fits precisely one inch inside the tent's perimeter so falling rain can't collect between the two.
You can create a functional shelter by using just the fly, the tent poles, and this footprint. The resulting structure keeps off the rain, provides a fabric floor, and has tremendous ventilation at a fraction of the weight of the complete tent. The Pitch Light option is especially useful for fast-and-light, mild-weather trips.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 Pitch Light Footprint:
I bought the pitch light footprint for a ground cloth for the MH Hammerhead 3. I have set the fly and footprint up in the pitch light configuration to see how it goes together. It isn't hard to figure out and set up. I haven't used it in this setup yet because of all the bugs we have in this part of the country.
I don't think it fits well under the tent as a ground cloth. It looks to me like the tent poles should hook into the holes in the ground cloth and tent holes and be nice and snug. This doesn't happen on the side holes. They are loose or in the wrong spot or something. This doesn't suprise me as I had a prior MH Casa 6 tent that had a very poor fly design. The whole tent went to the trash.
So far the ground cloth has prevented any holes in the tent.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 Pitch Light Footprint:
This tent was a dream. Easy to set up, and absolutely rock solid and silent. In 50 mph winds outside Hueco Tanks, this tent barely acknowledged the winds' presence. All the other campers took notice, while they were re-pitching their tents. Best of all, in the high winds... no noise!
