Great for backpacking! I tend too run hot, and don't wear many layers gettring too my destination, but when I'm there and settled I'll put these on under my shell and they work great. comfortable too sleep in and add a great value of insulation when snow camping/mountaineering. I have five more mountain lake in my area too camp at this winter all around 12,000 ft and these pants will be with me on every trip.
