Comments about Merrell Eagle Origins Shoe (Women's):
I'm working at a summer camp in Alaska and needed some shoes that would get the job done without making me look like I have no sense of style. I found these and lusted after them; bought them and fell in love. There was virtually no break in needed although wearing them around has made them more comfortable, just like any shoe. They're really rugged, solid shoes. I know I'll be ready for a variety of situations in them. But they are much lighter than I had expected. It will be raining a lot during my time in AK and although I haven't had a chance to test them out in actual rain yet, they stood up well when I poured some water on them. It's definitely not GTX but it beaded off just fine. I'll probably get some waterproofing to put on them. Overall, I love the shoes. I get lots of compliments on them. And I got them for [$] on here, which was a good $60 cheaper than all the other sites I found. Also, I had to order a size down. They didn't have my size 9 when I went to order, so I bought an 8.5 and a 10 to compare the sizes. (The two of them came up to about the price one would have cost elsewhere, holla). The 8.5 definitely fit me best. The 10 would have been okay, but it was a little bit too loose around the ankles. I'm perfectly happy with the 8.5, if you're in doubt go smaller. So glad Merrell makes half sizes. Basically: get the shoes, you won't regret it.
