What’s in MY pack? Backpacking gear lists from a Great Smoky Mountains overnighter
"Ever since we published a series of backpacking gear lists this spring (an ultralight backpacking gear list, a traditional backpacking gear list and a beginner’s backpacking gear list) several blog readers have contacted me to ask which of those items I personally carry. After all, it’s one thing to compile lists of suggested backpacking gear, and another thing entirely to disclose exactly what I take on the trail. Well, what better way to follow up those gear lists, and answer that question, than with another gear list?"

Comments about Marmot Zeus Vest (Men's):
The "Marmot Zeus" vest and like parka are the perfect combination for almost any inclement weather.Matching colors(like Lime-Lemon)make you see-able but still able to roll stealth.

Comments about Marmot Zeus Vest (Men's):
First of all,Marmot is quality one!And the attractive erray of colors that their down products come in.Its a no-brainer to choose Marmot over it's competitors.I can either wear it by itself or under my down parka in the cold country along with and outershell to guard against tree limbs and things like cat-claw.

Comments about Marmot Zeus Vest (Men's):
This is my favorite insulation piece, and it basically comes along with me every time I travel and every time I am backpacking or camping in the backcountry.
First things first: the 800 fill down is fantastic. You get a tremendous amount of warmth without that Michelin Man look. This vest packs into its own pocket, and with a weight of about 10 ounces it's hard to imagine anything warmer for the weight.
This also has a nicely down-proof shell material for its light weight; my sleeping bags all tend to shed bits of down here and there, but my Marmot Zeus vest never does.
Bottom line: massively warm in an ultralight, compressible package. The Zeus is core warmth that fits into any packing list.
