What’s in MY pack? Backpacking gear lists from a Great Smoky Mountains overnighter
"Ever since we published a series of backpacking gear lists this spring (an ultralight backpacking gear list, a traditional backpacking gear list and a beginner’s backpacking gear list) several blog readers have contacted me to ask which of those items I personally carry. After all, it’s one thing to compile lists of suggested backpacking gear, and another thing entirely to disclose exactly what I take on the trail. Well, what better way to follow up those gear lists, and answer that question, than with another gear list?"

Comments about Marmot Venus Down Jacket (Women's):
I absolutely love the color of this jacket. It is lightweight and really comfy. I don't think it is quite as warm as some of the other reviewers mentioned in extreme cold, but is perfect for layers underneath or with a ski jacket over the top.

Comments about Marmot Venus Down Jacket (Women's):
I love this jacket and use it for everything from hiking to out in town. Its the perfect weight for a down jacket. I never overheat in it, but I do think you should wear a base layer if its going to be really cold.

Comments about Marmot Venus Down Jacket (Women's):
This is my favorite jacket (or sweater). It is extremely lightweight but warm. The nylon fabric has a silky luxurious feel. Great for layering and packing as the 800 fill is so compact/light, but warm. I'm tall (5'10"), but the arms fit great and the jacket fits shorter in the body but still long enough! I plan to buy another.

Comments about Marmot Venus Down Jacket (Women's):
This is a great jacket! I've worn it backpacking and casually around Boulder (CO), and it works great. It's surprisingly warm, but that's what you get for such a high quality fill. I have noticed that I need to wear a base layer with the jacket to get the full warmth, but this isn't a huge "con" whatsoever. Buy one if you're looking for a packable, efficient, durable, stylish jacket!

Comments about Marmot Venus Down Jacket (Women's):
I love my Venus. Never having lived in cold weather before I have been trying to find a coat that works to keep me warm and the wind at bay. Finally, I have found it! Its like wearing a hug. And I love the thermostatic quality of the down. It keeps me warm outside and yet when I am running errands around town, going in and out of stores, I don't feel as if I am a walking sauna. I highly recommend investing in this jacket
