Comments about Marmot Tempo Jacket 2011 (Men's):

This is an excellent lightweight softshell. It's good for weather above 60 degrees and excellent in rain. I use it for jogging because the breathability and weight make it great for outdoor activities. You can also use as a baselayer under a heavy, warmer coat. I have used it underneath a snowboard jacket and it's good for that too.

I have been buying Marmot now for a few years now and they have never let me down. The price is not over the top like Arcteryx and it's just slightly more expensive than North Face. Great for hiking, cycling or backpacking, very easy to fold in a backpack. It's not very warm, I use it as a baselayer for winter and best for use above 60 degrees. Under that, you could get away with it if you're doing intense activities which make you sweat and you don't want to go with just a t-shirt.

So if you're tired of seeing North Face on every high school kid, wannabe rapper or Tom, Dick & Harry, Marmot is your best option. They're not ridiculously overpriced like Arcteryx and their prices are slightly more expensive than TNF. Plus I like their more traditional, classy look opposed to TNF's baggier, "youth oriented" look.
