Mad River Canoe's first boat was designed and built in 1971... and then its creator, Jim Henry, won the Downriver National Championship in it. Building a tradition out of innovation, Mad River Canoe was the first to use kevlar in canoe designs, presently offers a wider variety of canoe hull shapes than anyone else and continues to rake in accolades including 3 different "Manufacturer of the year" awards from Canoe & Kayak Magazine.
