The Gandalf Shoe by La Sportiva is aptly named due to its amazing ability to turn a normal approach shoe idea into a mass exodus towards greatness... minus that pesky ring.  The Gandalf Shoe is designed for long approaches and actual climbing/guiding. 

An ultra technical model that is built around the foot, with a special ergonomic construction (Ergonomic Concept) that makes this more like a boot than a shoe.  The upper molds to your feet in order to create a stable, secure shoe that creates the most "natural" contact point possible.

La Sportiva used a "wet white" tanning process with a special full grain leather that looks lighter and more flexible, and uses only eco-friendly products.

The insole and the mold conforms to the natural foot design giving you less fatigue over time and enhanced protection from roots, rocks and gnarly terrain.  The sole gives you a raised forward surface making smearing and stemming quite easy, since the shoe is already shaped for that position.

The price is a kicker, but the shoe literally becomes like a climbing shoe for your feet, BUT protects them, reduces fatigue and provides a very stable platform to hike, climb and trek your way to the ultimate summit.
