Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do for your body, regardless of your activity. Whether you’re hiking up huge mountain passes, hitting the bike trail for an uphill course you won’t soon forget, or running a marathon, you need to have regular and consistent access to water to keep you operating at your peak.
Thanks to innovators like Camelbak, Osprey, Deuter and others, staying hydrated has never been more convenient. You can clip a water bottle to your bag, slip on a hydration belt that won’t weigh you down, or go for a full trail running pack. Although there are plenty of ways to access your fluids, we prefer the last one on the list. Trail running packs all include hydration systems in a lightweight design (and may also provide storage for a few extras), making them useful in more ways than one. Some of our staff just enjoy having packs just to have their hands free, even on shorter runs or hikes.
Trail and Outdoor Hydration Packs
Most outdoor adventures require you to have access to supplies and storage, so chances are good you’re already sporting a backpack as you head out for the day. The best trail running packs don’t just provide handy pockets, clips, and water – they’re also designed so they don’t slow you down or cause additional strain on your back and shoulders. You’ll also want to ensure you fit the right sized bladder pack to your system. For optimal performance, you want enough room to carry the amount of water you need, but you never want to be weighed down by your supplies. These packs also allow you to tighten the straps as you drink the water so you still have a comfortable fit and the bladder isn't bouncing around on your back as it empties.
