Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoe (Men's):

Good shoes, but designers need to take into consideration stiffness of rubber covering shoe tip. it is way to stiff compared to leather and it rips leather off easy. in other words need more deformable material for the shoe tip. other than that this shoe is very durable and good.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoe (Men's):

The Camp Four is sized very small. I had to order one full size larger. I got a pair for my wife and she had to get 1.5 sizes larger. That is the one negative. The shoe is very stable, has great traction on rock, and handles any kind of trail. It appears that it will be very durable. Very comfortable on the tough trails. One reviewer said you could climb 5.10s with this shoe. I'm not sure about that, but then I can't climb 5.10s with my climbing shoes.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoe (Men's):

I feel this shoe runs about 1/2 size smaller than normal. The women's 11 was alittle too small, the men's 9.5 fit fine. Love the support, shoe is comfortable, wide toe box that can be laced muliple ways to accomdate different widths. This is my second pair. I use this shoe to bang around in all day. Will do short day hikes but our VT terrain is not suitable for hiking in low cut shoes.

The only negative thing I have to say about this shoe is that my feet do get hot and sweaty pretty quick because of the lack of ventilation. Other than that, I love everything about the five ten. By far the best hiking shoe that I have ever worn.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoe (Men's):

I've used and abused these shoes for over 3 years now and they've held up great. Excellent for approaches, scrambling, easy terrain and really for all around use. They are a bit bulky for bringing on multi-pitch routes although you'll be glad to have them for the descent if you do bring them along.

After 3 years they are showing wear in line with what I would expect but overall are still very usable. I just wish they would finally wear out so I could buy a new pair :)

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoe (Men's):

I bought a pair of these in New Zealand for hiking, backpacking, packrafting...and everyday use. They really caught my eye because it looked like they were relatively light, fit really well, and WERE NOT "waterproof". Some other reviewers marked them down on this but I find it a plus. They drain water really well and dry out quick, which is sweet if you're alternating between paddling and hiking, or fording anything more than shin-deep. I always bought "waterproof" hiking boots in the past but face it, if you go through anything deep they're going to get soaked and then take FOREVER to dry because they are "waterproof".

I used them for backpacking even with a big pack and found them supportive enough for me. They grip everything too, it's amazing. I never thought I'd find shoes I liked this much. My left one wore through on the outside edge but for what I put them through I can't believe they stayed intact so long anyway and it won't stop me from buying another pair.

This is a good quality shoe that is comfortable and stable. I mainly use them for day hikes with a light pack or just to the gym. I will buy another pair when these wear out. I would give 5 stars if they were were waterproof/resistant.

Comments about Five Ten Camp Four Approach Shoe (Men's):

i'll start with the only negative thing i have to say about the Camp Four: it's not waterproof, but neither does it claim to be. The Camp Four's big brother, the FiveTen Exum, is, but i much prefer the low-top to the mid. Afterall, i was looking for a lightish-weight, summer hiking shoe. i'm just not sure why they couldn't add a waterproof layer into the Camp Four. Thats the only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5.

The benefits outweigh that slight annoyance by a lot, however. The shoe is extremely comfortable and fits like a glove. the full-foot lacing is glorious for tightening down the Camp Four to an almost climbing shoe fit, for when you really need to buckle down and get serious. and 5.10's rubber continues to amaze me by its ability to stick to things that normal shoes simply laugh at; mossy rocks, wet roots and logs, even the leaf-over-mud sides of ravines seem to turn to sandpaper under these things. i don't exaggerate. the fit, the comfort and the rubber all add to the feelings of security and stability that this solidly constructed shoe engenders. 5.10 claims that the external heel cup will provide enough support for heavy, long distance hikes. i've done the long distance thing with them but not the heavy. still i have to say, it really feels like they are much more supportive than other low-tops and a million times more comfortable than mids.

after owning a pair of 5.10 climbing shoes, i was so impressed by the construction, look and feel that i decided to go to 5.10 for some hikers too. im very impressed and if they last as long as they look like they will, i'll be coming back to 5.10 for more. its the type of quality product that breeds customer loyalty.
