The Pontas climbing shoe by Evolv is the world's first Chris Sharma signature model climbing shoe. Based on Chris' design ideas, Evolv created the Pontas as an all around high performance shoe that combines precision, power, and responsiveness in an excellent glove-like fit.
Love to toe hook? The Pontas has an extended toe rand that is functional for hooking without the bulky feel, while the tri-grooves relieve pressure off the big toe. The heel of the Pontas fits securely from the base of the heel to the achilles without discomfort and deadspace, and is equipped with a semi stiff midsole so you can gain the balance of edging power and responsiveness from the toe through the arch.

Comments about Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe + Free Chalk!:
I usually wear a women's 8.5 and I got these in a men's 7. They fit perfectly. Nice and snug, just tight enough to make my toes curl slightly. They feel good when I'm wearing them and edge very well. I've only bouldered and done indoor so far and they're doing great. The only thing is that the sole is already ripping a little bit.

great shoe, only problem is the heel is really weak so if you step on it it'll break, also the heel is a tad big. i think i have a normal sized heel and its slightly loose

Comments about Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe + Free Chalk!:
I love my Pontas. I wear a 10 running shoe and had to keep going smaller with these to size 8.5. The rubber is extremely sticky and the shoes are just aggressive enough to be used on anything from longer sport climbs to edgy boulder problems. The major downside to these shoes is that they seem to be wearing down much faster than other shoes. The runner on the top of the toe started to peel away from the leather within a 2 weeks. While this did not effect climbing it just kinda was annoying for relatively new shoes.

Comments about Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe + Free Chalk!:
These are my second pair of shoes, purchased because I had rounded out the edges of my Coyote 5.10's. The edging capability of the Pontas are fantastic out of the box, but after a month and a half of climbing, 3-4x a week, the edges round out; this could be due to poor footwork as I've only been climbing for half a year, but I've been told the sticky Evolv rubber wears out pretty fast. Regardless, I picked up a second pair recently and tested them outdoor at Santee, California, home to a bunch of crimpy bouldering problems. Standing on dime sized edges is easy with this shoe, but make sure you tighten your straps if you have sweaty feet to minimize slippage inside them.

Comments about Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe + Free Chalk!:
I love these shoes. Although Sharma made them for much crazier climbing than I will be doing, they still excel at everything less.
Fit...
When I took my Pontas' out of the box and tried them on, they fit snug and perfectly. I ordered the same size as my shoe size (8.5) and they fit great. They felt a little slick inside on the bottom and felt a little industrial on the bottom of my foot. So padding or fluff there. The rest of the shoe is very comfortable. The straps hold great and for the first few times of climbing I left the toe strap undone to let them stretch out more. They didn't stretch a lot but maybe just a little. (Synthetic). The velcro feels solid and seems to want to hold until you're ready to peel it off. I have narrow feet and these feel preety snug. Could be tighter width-ways but they fit pretty nicely.
Performance...
These shoes perform great. I've worn Mad Rock Phoenix and Five Ten Gambits, and the rubber is among the best i've used. I'd say it's the same stickiness or better than the stealth onyx on my gambits. Really great. They have a great flat edge for edging work and the toes grab holes and edges well. The shoes are great on overhanging bouldering routes. They feel light and are comfortable to hook: heel or toe. These shoes certainly won't hold you back. The only thing holding a climber back with these shoes will be their own body. These shoe will deliver as far as you can push yourself. No worries about the shoes not being sticky enough, or edging well enough, or hooking. They'll do anything you can manage to force your body into doing. Work on your footwork and these shoes will do anything you can throw at them.
If Sharma could do the Pontas arch in these, why wouldn't they do the hardest route in the local gym or crag? I am totally confident in recommending these to anyone. No shoes will make you a better climber, but these shoes will certainly never hold you back, and may even surprise you with their performance. I recommend 100%.

Comments about Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe + Free Chalk!:
These shoes feel great on everything-- edges, smears, slabs, overhangs, whatever. Occasionally I put on a more down turned shoe for really tough overhanging stuff, but other than that these can climb just about anything I can. Got them only one size down from my street shoe, and I can wear them for over an hour without too much discomfort. I've been climbing in them for about two months and they're holding up extremely well, although the friend who bought his a month earlier and recommended them is starting to get a crack in the rubber on one toe. I was surprised with how much I like the velcro; it may not be as snug as a lace up, but it's quicker to put on (obviously) and with the two straps you can still get them really tight. So to sum up, from my experience: they perform well, are relatively comfortable (for solid climbing shoes), and seem to be fairly durable. My one real complaint, like several other people, is the smell. I've never owned a pair of Evolvs before, and they stink way more than any other pair of shoe I've ever worn. Would be a good use of time to look into a way to wash them...

I climb all sorts of stuff with these shoes, boulder, sport, overhung to slab. The shoes are great, the rubber is super sticky and can toe into about anything you could think of. I really dont have any complaints about these shoes, most likely will be gettin these shoes from now on.

Comments about Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe + Free Chalk!:
I personally use this shoe for bouldering and shorter routes. I wouldn't recommend it for big wall or long climbs in general as it is a very aggressively cut shoe.
