March, 31, 2008: Today Two North Shore announces the begining of a drawing competition celebrating Earth Day.  As one of Chattanooga's first green developments, Two North Shore invites children  who attend elementary school (kindergarten through the 5th grade) to share their creativity with the community and help raise awareness of environmental issues.  The question posed to local children is simple: "How can we be good to the Earth?"  The replies will be on a special kind of recycled canvas: brown paper shopping bags that can be picked up at Greenlife.

All participants will have their work displayed in  the various store fronts of Two North Shore, located on Manufacturers Road. The winner of this competition will be given an assortment of prizes as well as showcased in Greenlife.   This will be a fantastic event that will not only showcase the children of Hamilton County, but also teach everyone involved the importance of environmental awareness. After the competition, the bags will be used in the stores as another way to spread the green message.

Going Green is not only a way of life for Greenlife, Rock/Creek, and the other tenants of Two North Shore, but also something that they feel can be practiced by everyone.   These retailers have taken the right steps to do what they can to better our environment, and they hope to encourage others to do the same.

The 95,000 square foot development is among the first in Chattanooga that will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified by the United States Green Building Council.  This certification ensures that the development adheres to strict standards in green building practices and energy efficiency. Some of the green efforts at Two North Shore include collecting rain water for irrigation, using recycled materials, and sourcing materials locally in order to decrease the energy spent on transport.

The tenants of Two North Shore feel that the future of our planet starts with us and depends on the lessons we teach our children.  Join us on April 19, 2008 where we will celebrate Earth Day by announcing the winners of this year’s Earth Day Drawing Competition. There will also be a number of activities for the entire family to enjoy.
