Go Green This Earth Day

Clean up for Earth Day with Sustainable, Recycled & Organic Products

Rock/Creek brings great performance with reduced environmental impact, offering you the best outdoor experience on the planet.

We use wind energy and offset our carbon footprint.

We choose eco-friendly papers, inks and printers, dematerialize displays, and design packaging that can be reused or recycled into something else.

We sponsor events that fund and enable protection of the backcountry.

These are our core commitments.

Not to call attention to Rock/Creek, but to raise awareness for worthy causes and increase access to the outdoors. Because we want to leave a practical history of commitment to our shared world.

Chaco Sandals      Chaco Footwear has a long history of being a "green" company focused on reducing their impact on the environment while supporting causes such as the dZi foundation and securing access to outdoor recreation areas. They developed a water-based glue that treads lightly on the planet and protects their employees from toxic fumes.

Know that every time you choose Chaco, you're giving something back.

This Arbor Day Weekend, April 25-27, 2008, Chaco and Rock/Creek will donate a tree for every pair of regularly-priced Chaco footwear sold online or in stores.

Klean Kanteen is a company that makes pure stainless steel bottles created to encourage better health, hydration and environmental responsibility.

Better Health: Klean Kanteens are made from #304 stainless steel, the material of choice in the food processing, dairy, and brewery industries. Stainless steel is easy to clean, durable, inert, sanitary, toxin-free, and non-leaching.

Hydration: It’s vital for life.

Environmental Responsibility: Klean Kanteens are the stainless steel alternative to plastics. Plastics in landfills and oceans are one of the most alarming of today’s environmental stories.

Stainless steel Klean Kanteens outlast their plastic counterparts and drinking water from a stainless steel Klean Kanteen tastes pure and odor free, unlike drinking from plastic which often makes water smell and taste undesirable. Shop Now >

KEEN Footwear Kearney Bag NEW! The Kearney Recycled Rice Bag Daypack by Keen is one of the most creative and eco-friendly daypacks we have seen in a long time.

Keen's Asian production companies re-use rice bags that are used to supply food for workers, and create this awesome looking bag for all sorts of day use.

Although it may not be the most durable bag out on the market, the message is that we can obtain resources from our day to day products and can create art from our trash.

KEEN Footwear Kearney Bag In honor of Earth Day 2006, Rock/Creek partnered with the prAna Natural Power Initiative and since that time, all the power used by Rock/Creek’s retail operations now comes from green-e certified wind power.

As the PNPI literature states, “Wind generated power is a clean, renewable source of energy which produces no greenhouse gas emissions or waste products. prAna is an ancient sanskrit word which is often defined as pure energy, vitality of the spirit and most notably breath.”

It naturally follows that wind energy would be perfect for such a company, and its retail partners. “Rock/Creek is excited to participate in this important program,” said Dawson Wheeler, owner and President of Rock/Creek.  Read More >
