Comments about Deuter Packs Kid Comfort II Carrier:

For starters, I am a 'Baby Wearer'. I don't even own a stroller. My son get's carried wherever he goes!

    Drawbacks:
This pack is(as stated on the product)only to be used with children that can sit well. In this case, totally unassisted. So don't plan on using it before your child's 5 month birthday. In the meantime I highly recommend the Britax until then.

The buckle to hold the child in requires some expertise.

    Good Stuff:
We started using this with our son around 51/2 months and he absolutely LOVES it! It holds him very well, and is extremely adjustable.

    The bottom pocket is huge.

There are tons of side pockets to hold stuff

And endless amount of 'loops' to clip things too

Lots of available adjustment for the wearer! All of which is easy to get at and operate.

    Good weight dispersal

Everything that is above the child's waist is padded and covered with a very soft and touchable material. Which is great when they fall asleep and their head start's bobbling around. The front has a very thick (and soft) detachable pad that is great for when they fall asleep leaning forward. Very easy and convenient to clean.

I also HIGHLY recommend getting the sun and rain shield to go with it. You will not regret being able to cover your little one. Not to mention, it takes all of about 15 seconds to take on and off.

All of the 'little things' that you think "Aw, that would be nice.." The designers thought of. Very user friendly.

    Two thumbs up!

Comments about Deuter Packs Kid Comfort II Carrier:

The side entry pannel is an amazing idea. It is so much easier to get our son in and out that way, as opposed to a pack that he slides in from the top.

Only downfall is the size of the seat (for now). Even though it says "for children who can sit well on their own", It is a very loose fit under 20lbs. We had to pack in some receiving blankets to hold him in place. However, it wil hold him comfortably for a very long time as he grows!

Comments about Deuter Packs Kid Comfort II Carrier:

If you are a parent, you need this carrier. It's padded in all the right places, has plenty of cargo space, and is easier to deal with in a crowd or on the trail than a stroller. I wish the sun-and-rain cover came with it, but definitely buy that too.

Comments about Deuter Packs Kid Comfort II Carrier:

We used the pack to take our 8 month old daughter on a hike up an Adirondack mountain. It was definitely more difficult hiking with her extra weight and gear, but not because of the pack. The pack itself was light weight, but strong. We had no trouble getting her into it, or it onto our backs. She seemed to like it too, she fell asleep.

Comments about Deuter Packs Kid Comfort II Carrier:

This is by far the best Kid carrier out there and I use it weekly with my 2 year old. Very comfortable and it is also easy to get your kid in because you open the side of the pack and your kid sits in a seat. I've tried other kid carrier's and the Deuter are the best hands down. Be sure to also get the sun shade as this helps you not have to fight your kid to keep on their hat on.

Comments about Deuter Packs Kid Comfort II Carrier:

My wife and I spent a great deal of time researching child backpacks before settling on this one. We have owned several larger Kelty backpacks in the past and they were just to large and cumbersome to use. We have lent the pack out to several of our friends and they all loved it and wanted to know where to get one for themselves.

                    A:

It does not. We highly recommend the sun shield be purchased along with this pack, of course, but since some users do not want it Deuter has chosen to sell it as a separate item.
